What is this leaflet for?

This leaflet gives easy read information about metal detectors at Northgate Park.

It shows what will happen when you are scanned and how it helps keep everyone safe.

When you arrive 

When you arrive are at reception or on the unit you will be scanned by a metal detector.

Before the scan

  • You will get a locker.
  • Put your personal things in the locker to keep them safe.

 

During the scan 

If the scanner beeps, it means  something you are wearing has  set it off. 

  • You will need to take that item off. 
  • Put the item in your locker.

About the metal detector 

The metal detector will beep if you have things like: 

  • Weapons 
  • Lighters 
  • or needles

It will not beep for things like jewellery or zips.

The metal detector is safe for people with pacemakers or people who are pregnant.

You will need to stand in front of the metal detector. 

Then, you will need to slowly turn  in a circle without touching the scanner.

If the metal detector beeps, and shows a red light, staff will check you again.

If you do not want to be scanned like this, staff can use a hand-held scanner instead.
