Shortage of medicines for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) – Information for patients, families and carers – Updated July 2025
The Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Service provides an assessment and treatment service for adults who are experiencing difficulty with symptoms of ADHD. The team is made up of a number of health care professionals.
They’re always considerate, supportive and above all, understanding of the issues I face.
I felt that treatment was planned around my needs, not what the staff thought was best.
Who is the Adult ADHD Service for?
The Adult ADHD Service is for men and women over the age of 18 years who have GPs in Northumberland, North Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside and require a period of assessment and treatment.
Thank you for the amazing care and patience I had during my assessment.
For patients who are registered in North Cumbria assessments and reviews are provided by either Psychiatry UK or they have the right to choose a provider via their GP.
How can I get referred?
Your GP or another health professional can refer you for assessment if they think that you may be experiencing ADHD by writing to us.
I have always been listened to and treated with respect. All the staff went out of their way to ensure I received appropriate care tailored to my individual circumstances.
