Akenside is an inpatient unit based at the Campus for Ageing and Vitality in Newcastle upon Tyne.  Akenside has 10 beds providing assessment and treatment by a multi disciplinary health and social care team. They will support you with a range of different treatments and therapies. The team involved in your care could include:

  • Psychologists
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Social Workers

Who is Akenside for?

Akenside is for older people with mental health problems arising from functional disorders such as depression, anxiety or psychosis.

How can I get referred?

You can be referred by a Specialist Mental Health Service, which you can access through your GP.
