The Paediatric Liaison Psychiatry Service provides specialist mental health assessment, support, and consultation for children and young people aged 0 to 18 years presenting to the RVI and Freeman Hospitals in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The team works across both the emergency departments and inpatient wards at these hospitals and is mainly based in the Great North Children’s Hospital.

The service operates from 8am to 9pm, seven days a week, and aims to provide timely, compassionate, and clinically sound support for the mental health needs of children and young people in the acute hospital setting.
