Lynsey - Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT)
I love working as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist. I qualified in 2023, having worked as a learning disabilities nurse / care coordinator for around 18 -19 years. I finally secured my ‘dream job’ in January 2025 and have now been in post for one year. During this time, I have found the team I work with extremely supportive, warm and welcoming, from the moment I joined. The management and leadership team are extremely supportive and make me feel valued. I have a fantastic supervisor who I have built a really positive and trusting relationship with, and my supervision is always prioritised. In addition to this, I have found that the teams I work into on a regular basis so lovely and welcoming, who are always interested in hearing about family interventions and family therapy.
I get to meet and work with families, couples, and other important relationships who are experiencing difficult times in their lives and who are affected by a range of mental health concerns. Although this job can be challenging, I never forget what a privilege it is to be in a trusted position and always strive to do the best job I can to help the families achieve the outcomes that are important to them. I am finding that with each family I work with, I learn so much and I am grateful for the richness this is bringing to my developing practice.
I also really enjoy supporting other colleagues who have an interest in family therapy and / or who are undertaking foundation or intermediate training and enjoy sharing my passion for this approach with others within training and supervision roles. Bernadette
